| To discuss the work done in the last couple of years and the new projects on the field. Some subjects to be dealt with: Attempts to improve the Bowen-York initial data for realistic astrophysical scenarios, relaxing conformal flatness for the 3-geometry (Kerr-Schild and Brill Waves ansatzs), and generating Cauchy data compatible with the close limit approach [non conformally flat and Kerr + perturbations limit for small separations of the holes] in order to compare perturbative and full numerical descriptions of the merger stage of two black holes. A review of the classical results will also be included. We plan to profit of the contact with the numerical relativity group in Potsdam and discuss both the applicability of the theoretical results to their simulations and the use of their experience to numerically integrate the initial value equations. The new developments to marry perturbative and full numerical techniques embodied in the "Lazarus" project will also be discussed. |
